1. Information we collect
When you use Mentu, we collect and process information needed to provide the app, including account details such as your name, email address, Firebase user identifier, profile settings, and authentication state.
We also process content you create or choose to add, including recipes, recipe descriptions, recipe images, meal plans, weekly review comments, shopping lists, preparation tasks, cooking steps, support feedback, and family collaboration records.
2. Dietary and family information
Mentu may process allergens, dietary preferences, unwanted products, family dietary rules, baby-food preferences, lactation-related preferences, and similar meal-planning settings when you add them. This information can be sensitive. You control what you enter and can edit or delete these settings in the app.
Family features may include family names, member names, member email addresses, roles, invitations, invite codes, assigned cooking tasks, reviews, and approval activity.
3. How we use information
We use information to operate Mentu, including account sign-in, syncing your data across devices, generating and updating meal plans and shopping lists, checking recipe conflicts with dietary settings, coordinating family reviews, showing cooking timers, delivering notifications, and responding to support requests.
4. Recipes, images, and shopping lists
Recipe text, ingredients, preparation steps, images, and shopping list items are stored so the app can display, sync, and share them with permitted family members. Public recipe discovery is disabled in the v1 release, so recipe visibility is limited to you and your family where applicable.
5. Notifications and timers
Mentu uses local notifications for cooking timers and may use push notifications for family review updates, cooking assignments, and related collaboration events. If you allow notifications, Mentu stores notification tokens so messages can be delivered to your device. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings.
6. Sharing and subprocessors
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as needed to operate the app, comply with law, protect users, or provide requested family collaboration features.
Mentu uses Firebase and Google Cloud as infrastructure providers for authentication, database storage, file storage, cloud functions, and push notification delivery. These services process data on our behalf to provide app functionality.
7. Account deletion and user rights
You can delete your account in the app from Profile settings. Account deletion removes your Firebase Authentication account and deletes or detaches profile-related data, notification tokens, user-owned recipes, recipe images, and family membership references where technically and safely possible.
Some collaborative records, such as meal plans already shared with a family, may be detached or anonymized instead of deleted if deleting them would break other family members' records. You may contact support for help with access, deletion, or privacy questions.
8. Data security
We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore security rules, Firebase Storage rules, and Google Cloud infrastructure controls to protect app data. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we design Mentu to limit access to authorized users and family members.
9. Children
Mentu is intended for adults and families. Baby-food features are intended for use by parents or legal guardians. Mentu is not intended for independent use by children.
